Summary: While I did not stay at Westgate growing up, the location of Westgate gave me and the family an opportunity to see sights that I remember from my childhood travels. We were close to so many things but able to find solace in being away from the main lanes of downtown Gatlinburg. We are the type of family that thrives on being able to venture out or stay in depending on the needs and wants of the day. Our building was located near the pool and putt-putt golf toward the top of the property. We brought our own putters as that's something that one of our teens had requested before leaving home for this journey. We played several rounds of mini-golf including the exciting glow golf at night. Hint: use the illuminated golf balls as a light to keep score! We enjoyed the onsight water park to be able to play basketball. Yes! There are three rims centrally located within the water park. The balls will make the game extra tricky as they are bouncy balls instead of the usual basketball ball. My youngest daughter saw one of the bears that lived behind where we were located. We were then told about the papa bear and his cubs that were further up property. The staff within Southern Comfort were welcoming when we sought a space to lounge and play cards. We sat in front of the fireplace without issue for a couple of hours. We were also able to take in the rain shower from this vantage point. It was the relaxation I needed.
